Finally, Takai cross-carpets to APC

Malam Salihu Sagir Takai , the Gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Redemption Party in the 2019 General elections in Kano state, North-West Nigeria has finally decamped to APC.

This was confirmed by his media aide Abdullahi Musa Huguma in an Interview with the Nigerian Tracker.

Malam Huguma said Malam Takai after due consultations with all stakeholders of the 44 local governments of Kano state including the Academics, the clergy, technocrats who formed part of his political journey since the year 2011 have finally reached an agreement to change party and join the All Progressives Congress.

The spokesperson added that in view of Malam Salihu’s stature as a thoroughbred politician he has decided to now be with the All Progressives Congress in Kano state.

According to him, Malam Takai will now be a law-abiding member of the All Progressives Congress and follow the rules and regulations of the party.

He said Malam Salihu Takai is somebody who respects the wishes of his people and will follow the party structure and be loyal to the state party leader Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

On speculations, whether Takai will present himself as Gubernatorial candidate Huguma said  Malam Takai did not join the party just to be a candidate in 2023 but if it’s the wishes of the people to stand for elections he will do so.

There have been speculations in Kano that Malam Salihu Sageer Takai was set to decamp from the PRP, the party that fielded him as Gubernatorial candidate in the year 2019 to either APC or PDP but speculations have been laid to rest on Monday Night when Final decision was reached and Malam Takai now joins the APC.

Malam Salihu Sageer Takai has been contesting the Gubernatorial elections since the year 2011 when Malam Ibrahim Shekarau the then governor of Kano state wanted him to succeed him as governor but lost to Rabiu  Musa Kwankwaso of the PDP.
