Chris Ngige the former governor of Anambra state was abducted on the 10th of July 2003.

His abduction was perpetrated by Late AIG Raphael Ige, the saga left many Nigerians wondering how can a sitting Governor Just be abducted that way without the support of the constituted authority.

The abductees later conspired and forged Dr. Chris Ngige’s signature and asked the Chief Judge of Anambra State to swear in his Deputy Dr. Ukeh Udeh.

The conspirators said Chris Ngige has resigned as Governor of Anambra state thereby directing his Deputy to be sworn in by the state’s Chief Judge.

His abduction was not successful in 2003 as Ngige doesn’t leave Anambra state Government House till around 2006 when a court quashed his election and allocated victory to APGA’s Peter Obi,

The case made Nigeria a laughing stock among committee of nations as the prominent son of Anambra state Chinua Achebe refused to accept the national honour given to him by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
