Following the overthrow of Former President shehu Shagari by the military on 31 December 1983, the former Nigeria’s President was also taken to Nassarawa state.

Nigerian Tracker understand that the former president was moved away by security guarding the presidential villa in Abuja when they learnt that the troops assigned to abduct the former President was on their way to state House.

On realizing that the state House will be a serious battle ground  they pleaded to the former President of Nigeria to enter a Peugeot 504 saloon car and immediately took Keffi Nassarawa Road.

When President Shagari became the President of Nigeria on 1st October 1979, he promised to consolidate on the construction of the Federal capital in Abuja and have already started conducting council meetings.

He left Lagos for Abuja on December 30 1983 ,a day to the coup staged by the Nigerian military.

The Nigerian tracker believed that a mystery may be associated with Nassarawa state, the reason then advanced by the military to take Shagari away was that one of the leading coups mongers Brigadier Ibrahim Bako was on his way with troops from Kaduna to make sure that Shagari was arrested.

Late Shagari was persuaded by his ADC Major Ali Gaidam to take him to a safer place not the Aguda House and Keffi in Nassarawa state was chosen before Marmara where the Farm of Group captain Usman Jibril was relocated.

Shagari went to his friends’ House Alhaji Hassan Ahmad who later took him to a friends’ House, the late military governor of Kaduna state group captain Usman Jibril ,Group captain Usman Jibril later took President Shagari to Tunga farm where they will not be recognized and were given turban so that the villagers will not have a clue of who they are.

Nigerian Tracker had  traced this narrative from former President Shehu Shagari’s Autobiography Beckoned to serve which was authored by the late president and was launched in 1999.

Late President Shehu Shagari died on 28 December 2018 at age 93 at national hospital in Abuja and was buried at Shagari in Sokoto state.

Why do Nigerian politicians want Nassarawa state as a refuge ground? when the deposed Emir of Gwandu from the second most senior emirate in Sokoto caliphate was deposed by Governor Muhammad Adamu Aliero in 2005 was taken to Nassarawa state.

Last week on March 9 ,2020 Kano state government led by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje deposed Emir Muhammad Sunusi II ,he was taken to Loko a remote village in Nassarawa state before they changed a place for him in Awe in the same Nassarawa state.

But on March 15 a Federal High court in Abuja ordered that former Emir Muhammad Sunusi should be released and can go anywhere in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Tracker believed that Nassarawa state has at least been a pot of call by former President Shehu Shagari , Emirs Almustapha Haruna Jaokolo and recently  Emir Muhammad Sunusi II.
