<p>The Federal Government has issued a strong denial of what it describes as a &#8220;deliberate disinformation&#8221; campaign, dismissing as entirely fabricated allegations of a as state-sponsored plot to target opposition figures.</p>
<p>The denial comes in response to a document circulating online that alleged the creation of a secret multi-agency task force, identified as “ADP4VIP” (Arrest, Detain, Prosecute for Very Important Persons).</p>
<p>The document claimed this non-existent unit, supposedly coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser and involving the EFCC, ICPC, and NFIU, was designed to &#8220;aggressively target&#8221; prominent opposition members without due process.</p>

<p>In a detailed statement as released by the Information ministry, and signed by the Honorable Minister Mohammed Idris, the government categorically rejected the narrative, stating: no such programme as “ADP4VIP” exists, the Tinubu Administration remains singularly focused on its core agenda of economic reform, national security, and restoring investor confidence, and that allegations of political targeting are a &#8220;dangerous red herring&#8221; intended to shield individuals from lawful accountability.</p>

<p>The statement emphasized the government&#8217;s &#8220;unwavering commitment to the rule of law, due process, and the independence of institutions.&#8221;</p>
<p>It invoked Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees the right to association, and President Tinubu&#8217;s oath to uphold these protections.</p>
<p>&#8220;The attempt by some opposition elements to frame lawful accountability as political targeting is a dangerous red herring designed to shield so-called VIPs from answering to our national laws and anti-corruption agencies,&#8221; the statement read.</p>
<p>The government warned the public to expect a rise in fabricated narratives and political blackmail as the 2027 general elections approach, urging Nigerians to &#8220;reject the politics of distortion and division.&#8221;</p>
<p>The government concluded by asserting it would not be distracted by those invested in perpetual politicking, reaffirming its dedication to delivering &#8220;continuity, progress, and tangible results&#8221; for all Nigerians.</p>
