<p>The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has summoned billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote to appear before an investigative panel in Abuja on Monday. The summons follows a formal petition submitted by Dangote, alleging corruption against Ahmed Farouk, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).</p>
<p>A commission source confirmed to newsmen on Sunday that ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu (SAN) has established a specialized panel to examine the allegations. Dangote is expected to appear in person or be represented by his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja (SAN), and to provide relevant evidence as the probe begins.</p>

<p>The petition accuses Farouk of financial misconduct, including misappropriation of public funds and spending approximately $7 million—without a clear lawful income source—on the education of his four children at exclusive schools in Switzerland. Dangote further alleges that Farouk undermined Nigeria’s domestic refining sector by colluding with international traders through the continued issuance of import licences.</p>
<p>The ICPC has requested that Dangote submit all supporting evidence to the agency. Commission spokesperson John Okor Odey verified that the petition was formally received on December 16 through Dangote’s legal counsel.</p>

<p>Although Ahmed Farouk has since resigned from his position, the ICPC emphasized that his resignation does not affect the investigation, which will proceed in accordance with standard procedures. The commission has committed to conducting a fair and impartial inquiry into the matter.</p>
<p>Dangote’s petition calls for the arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Farouk for allegedly living above his means as a public servant.</p>
