<p>This was disclosed by the Director General, Media and Communication to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Alhaji Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, during a one-day capacity building workshop for online journalists organized by the Kano Online Media Chapel.</p>
<p>Alhaji Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, while addressing participants, said he was extending a hand of friendship to the chapel, noting that “there is no doubt the chairman is capable.” He emphasized that the workshop was the first of its kind and that the chapel was not only an alternative but a vital platform for information dissemination.</p>
<p>The Director General further announced a donation of two million naira for the renovation of the chapel’s office. He explained that online media serves the immediate consumption of news in society and stressed that “online media has come to stay, and in the era of AI, we will try to support the association.”</p>

<p>Alhaji Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa assured participants of government support, pledging that the administration would ensure the sustainability of the association. “We will ensure and support the sustainability of the association. I want to assure you of the government’s support,” he stated.</p>

<p>On his part, the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Abdullahi Waiya, said the government, through the Ministry of Information, would continue to support the chapel to guarantee its sustainability. He reiterated the state’s commitment to strengthening online journalism as a credible source of information.</p>
<p>Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kano Chapter, Aliyu Yusuf, described the workshop’s theme as apt, considering the dynamism of journalism and its dissemination through various online media platforms. He noted that the discussion on artificial intelligence and journalism was timely and relevant.</p>
<p>In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kano Online Media Chapel, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, expressed appreciation for the presence of government officials and stakeholders. He said after the chapel’s inauguration, members engaged in registration to ensure sanity in online media practice and successfully opened an account to strengthen operations.</p>
<p>Comrade Dangambo highlighted some of the challenges facing the chapel, including lack of office space and mobility. He appealed for patronage and support from stakeholders, noting that “we need an 18-seater bus” to aid the work of online journalists in the state.</p>
<p>The chairman assured that despite the challenges, the chapel would continue to disseminate accurate and factual information. “We will continue to disseminate accurate and factual information,” he pledged, stressing the association’s commitment to professionalism and integrity in online journalism.</p>
