<p>The Federal Government has allocated â¦2.3 billion to address salary and promotion arrears for Batch 8 at Federal universities nationwide.</p>
<p>According to a statement from Folasade Boriowo, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa has stated that the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) facilitated the disbursement.</p>
<p>&#8220;A total of N2.311bn, representing Batch 8 salary and promotion arrears, has been released through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to universities. Benefiting institutions should begin to receive payment alerts anytime from now,” Alausa said.</p>

<p>He also mentioned that the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation are in the final stages of processing the release of third-party non-statutory deductions and pension remittances to NUPEMCO. This process is anticipated to be completed soon.</p>

<p>Dr. Alausa revealed that the Federal Government has sanctioned the complete integration of the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) into university staff salaries starting in 2026, to guarantee prompt and sustainable disbursements.</p>
<p>&#8220;This will ensure prompt, predictable, and sustainable payments going forward,” he said.</p>
<p>Moreover, funds have also been released under the Needs Assessment of Nigerian Universities, with budgetary provisions made to sustain the initiative.</p>
<p>The education minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving long-standing challenges.</p>
<p>“The Federal Ministry of Education assures that these engagements are being conducted truthfully and in good faith.</p>
<p>“However, while the government remains committed to improving staff welfare, it will only enter into agreements that are realistic and financially sustainable,” he stated.</p>
