<p>A former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.</p>
<p>Mr. Lamido, former minister of foreign affairs and founding member of the PDP, announced his decision in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Monday.</p>

<p>Nigerian Tracker News had reported that PDP stakeholders from the North-West had earlier endorsed a former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, as the consensus candidate ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.</p>

<p>The endorsement, however, sparked outrage and rejection from several stakeholders of the party, including the Kebbi State Chapter of the PDP.</p>
<p>Announcing his interest, Mr Lamido reaffirmed his commitment to democracy and resolve to restore the PDP to its former glory.</p>
<p>He said, “By the grace of God, I shall today, Monday, 27th October 2025, by 11 a.m., be at Wadata Plaza, the National Headquarters of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, to purchase the nomination form to run for the office of the National Chairman of the Party.</p>
<p>&#8220;My commitment to democracy and resolve to restore our dear Party to its old glory is unstoppable”.</p>
<p>However, on getting to the party&#8217;s headquarters in a much later period after declaring his interest, the former governor was unable to secure the nomination form.</p>
<p>Expressing his dissatisfaction with the development, Alhaji Lamido threatened court action if he failed to secure the form before the convention day.</p>
<p>Addressing journalists in front of his supporters, Lamido declared that he was prepared to contest for the chairmanship of the party at the November 15th and 16th elective National Convention slated for Ibadan, Oyo State.</p>
<p>At the time of filing this report, no reason has yet been given regarding his failure to secure the nomination form.</p>
