<p>Mr Sowore announced his release in a post on social media on Monday, berating President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.</p>
<p>“Leaving Kuje Prison in Abuja after being detained there illegally for four days by @officialABAT illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun,” Mr Sowore said. “#FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”</p>

<p>Mr Sowore was arrested a few days after he led protests demanding the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.</p>

<p>During the protests, Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and Emmanuel Kanu were also arrested and remanded in Kuje Prison.</p>
<p>The other two, Emmanuel Kanu and Ejimakor Aloy, regained freedom alongside the activist.</p>
