<p>The United States Army War College (USAWC) has posthumously inducted Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Nigeria&#8217;s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, into its International Hall of Fame. This is one of the institution&#8217;s highest honors for international military figures.</p>
<p>According to a statement from Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the induction ceremony took place in Washington D.C. during the opening of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Convention.</p>
<p>It was also noted in the statement that General Lagbaja&#8217;s induction marks a historic milestone for Nigeria, as he is the first Nigerian Army officer to be enshrined in the USAWC International Hall of Fame in its 124-year history.</p>

<p>Lieutenant Colonel Anele elaborated that during a solemn yet colourful ceremony, the Commandant of the USAWC, Major General Trevor J. Bredenkamp, presented the posthumous honour in recognition of the late General&#8217;s “sterling leadership, visionary service, and outstanding contributions to international peace and security.”</p>

<p>&#8220;The honour underscores his exemplary service and distinguished career, which culminated in his appointment as Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff,” the statement added.</p>
<p>Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, was Major General Adeleke Ayannuga. He accepted the honor on behalf of the Nigerian Army, attending alongside Maria Lagbaja, the late Army Chief&#8217;s widow.</p>
<p>The ceremony was also attended by several other distinguished dignitaries. These included Major General G.O. Adesina, Director General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre; Major General G.T.O. Ajetunmobi, Director General of the Defence Headquarters Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre; and Deborah Aboderin from the Office of Security Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.</p>
<p>This year&#8217;s International Hall of Fame induction featured six eminent alumni. By including General Lagbaja, the honor cements his legacy among an elite circle of global military leaders celebrated for their extraordinary contributions to peace and international cooperation.</p>
