<p>The poll, which ran from October 4 to October 11, 2025, was organized to gauge public sentiment regarding potential candidates for the 2027 gubernatorial race.</p>
<p>During the certificate presentation ceremony, organized by the Kano-based television station, the Governor affirmed his commitment to advancing the education sector and ensuring Kano remains a source of pride.</p>

<p>Alhaji Hotoro commended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Matashiya TV for organizing the successful opinion poll and assured the public of the Governor’s dedication to continuing and expanding his developmental efforts across Kano State.</p>

<p>&#8220;I believe that the people of Kano State are with me, and I promise to continue working diligently for their benefit,&#8221; Alhaji Hotoro stated on behalf of the Governor.</p>
<p>In his remarks, the CEO of Matashiya TV, Alhaji Abubakar Murtala Ibrahim, explained that the initiative was taken to enable the station to hear the opinions of the people of Kano regarding the political climate.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is a starting point, not the conclusion. We will continue to hold these polls periodically to enable the people to express their voice and allow potential candidates to assess their current standing,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>Dr. Ashiru Tukur Inuwa, the Poll Coordinator and Returning Officer, noted that this type of public opinion measurement is a standard and healthy practice in developed nations.</p>
<p>The poll featured a contest between Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Barau I. Jibrin.</p>
<p>The final results showed Governor Yusuf securing 7,001 votes, compared to Senator Jibrin&#8217;s 857 votes, with 342 invalid votes.</p>
<p>The total number of votes cast amounted to 8,200.</p>
