<p>A tragic incident has rocked the Wawa Cantonment in Niger State, following the suspected murder-suicide involving a Nigerian Army personnel, Lance Corporal Akenleye Femi, and his wife.</p>
<p>According to a statement released by the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Lance Corporal Femi, who was serving with the 221 Battalion, was found dead alongside his wife in their apartment located at Block 15, Room 24, Corporals and Below Quarters within the barracks. The incident occurred on Friday, October 11, 2025.</p>
<p>Preliminary investigations indicate that the soldier had been on duty within the cantonment but had requested permission from his superior to briefly attend to personal matters. Shortly after, both he and his wife were discovered lifeless in their residence, sparking shock and grief among residents and colleagues.</p>

<p>The Nigerian Army has confirmed that the remains of the deceased have been preserved, and a full-scale investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.</p>
<p>In an official statement, the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. <p>The incident has left the Wawa Barracks community in mourning, with many questioning the possible triggers behind the tragedy. As investigations continue, the Nigerian Army has pledged to uphold transparency and accountability in handling the case.</p>
