<p>The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has made significant progress in resolving the long-standing issue of pension arrears for retired police officers and other pensioners. According to Hon. Hafiz Ibrahim Kawu, the Federal Commissioner of PenCom, the commission has released a staggering N758 billion to settle outstanding pension payments.</p>
<p>This development is a result of the current administration&#8217;s efforts, led by President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, to address the pension issues that have been plaguing the sector since 2010. Kawu stated that the commission is committed to finding a solution to the pension issues of retired police officers and is engaging with them to resolve their concerns.</p>
<p>The Northern Youths Merger Group of the APC, led by Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, recently visited Kawu to bring attention to the plight of retired police officers. Zaitawa commended Kawu&#8217;s efforts in addressing pension issues and praised the commissioner&#8217;s to finding solutions.</p>

<p>Kawu assured the group that under the current administration, pensioners are paid regularly, and the commission is working tirelessly to resolve the outstanding issues. He appreciated the group&#8217;s efforts in highlighting the concerns of retired police officers and expressed his commitment to working together to find a solution..</p>

<p>NYMG also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the emergency allocation to implement the pension increments.</p>
<p>It also acknowledged the support of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, Zacch Adedeji; and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi with the good effort made by Pencom boss Hon Hafiz Ibrahim Kawu.</p>
