<p>In a statement released by the Command, CP Azare expressed deep concern over the disturbing trend where masquerades traditionally symbols of cultural heritage and celebration are now being exploited for illicit purposes. “Masquerades are meant to bring joy and showcase our rich cultural identity, not to serve as a disguise for criminal elements,” CP Azare said. “It is utterly disheartening to see this revered tradition being desecrated by a few misguided individuals who are tarnishing our cultural values.”</p>
<p>According to the Commissioner, recent intelligence reports have linked some masquerade participants to serious offenses including aiding and abetting crimes, illegal possession of firearms, assaulting innocent citizens, and trafficking hard drugs. He emphasized that the Command will no longer tolerate such abuse of cultural platforms.</p>

<p>“My message to these criminals is clear: desist from these acts immediately or be prepared to face the consequences,” CP Azare declared. “The long arm of the law will catch up with you, and you will be brought to book. CP Azare called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents to support the police by providing credible information that could help curb the trend.</p>
