Ahmad Muhammad Sani Gwarzo .

The people of Gwarzo Local Government Area have been urged to continue turning out in large numbers to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the ongoing registration exercise progresses.

This passionate call was made by the Executive Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho, shortly after he carried out an inspection visit to the official registration office situated in Gwarzo town.

Dr. Tsoho noted with satisfaction that many citizens had already begun to take advantage of the exercise, but he expressed the need for even greater participation to ensure that no eligible voter in the area is left behind. According to him, democracy is only strengthened when every citizen is properly registered and equipped with the means to exercise their civic rights.

The council chairman further stressed that the Permanent Voter Card is not just an ordinary document but a key instrument that empowers individuals to take part in shaping the future of their communities, the state, and the country at large. He pointed out that with the 2027 general elections drawing closer, it becomes even more important for people to obtain their PVCs in good time.

Importantly, Dr. Tsoho reminded those who have newly attained the age of eighteen (18) years, as well as those who may have misplaced or lost their Permanent Voter Cards, that this is the right opportunity to either register afresh or apply for replacement of their cards. He described this opportunity as a rare chance that must not be wasted, as it guarantees inclusion in the democratic process.

He went on to explain that participation in voter registration is a patriotic responsibility. According to him, “the more people register, the stronger our voice as a community, and the greater our ability to demand quality leadership at every level.”

Dr. Tsoho assured the people that the local government under his leadership will continue to provide necessary support in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make the exercise smooth, transparent, and hitch-free. He commended INEC officials for their resilience, professionalism, and commitment despite challenges, and promised the council’s continued cooperation.

In his remarks, the chairman also appealed to the people to exercise patience and maintain orderliness at the registration centers, acknowledging that large turnouts sometimes result in delays. He encouraged residents to remain calm and cooperative with officials to ensure everyone is attended to properly.

Furthermore, Dr. Tsoho called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and opinion leaders across Gwarzo Local Government to play an active role in sensitization. He stressed that these community leaders have a unique influence and can help mobilize more people, especially women and youths, to register and collect their PVCs.

He equally urged youth organizations, women associations, and civil society groups to complement government’s efforts by raising awareness on the importance of PVCs, organizing outreach programs, and assisting those who may not have access to adequate information about the process.

The chairman described the PVC as the “power of the common man” and noted that without it, no citizen can actively participate in electing credible leaders. He added that refusing to register or neglecting to collect one’s card is equivalent to giving up the right to decide the future of the nation.

Dr. Tsoho also used the opportunity to remind the electorate that elections are not about violence or division but about peacefully expressing choice through the ballot. He stressed that the first step towards this is ensuring one has a valid and updated voter card.

Dr. Mani Tsoho reiterated his call for residents of Gwarzo Local Government to seize this chance wholeheartedly. “Let no eligible voter be left out,” he declared, adding that every single card collected represents one more voice that will count in the journey toward good governance, progress, and development for the people.
