<p>The lawmaker issued a detailed statement just hours after the party announced his removal, expressing disappointment over the process and defending his recent public remarks. “It came as a surprise and a rude shock,” Kofa stated, “but I stand by all the statements I made in the interviews.”</p>
<p>Kofa, who had recently granted interviews in both English and Hausa, argued that his views were consistent with the founding principles of the NNPP, which he said encourage dissent and open dialogue. “The contents of the interview should not warrant such heavy penalty,” he said, adding that the party should have drawn lessons from his remarks rather than resorting to expulsion. “I expected the party to pick lessons from the interview,” he emphasized.</p>

<p>The lawmaker criticized the party for failing to offer him a chance to defend himself, citing a lack of fair hearing and due process. “No invitation was extended to me to explain myself,” Kofa lamented. “Even under military dictatorship, an accused is subjected to a court martial.” He suggested that had the party followed proper procedures, the decision to expel him might have been avoided.</p><div class="6u1yHK0w" style="clear:both;float:left;width:100%;margin:0 0 20px 0;"><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

<p>Despite his disappointment, Kofa said he accepts the party’s decision in good faith and without resentment. “I would have loved to stay in the NNPP,” he admitted, “but the party has made and announced a decision.” He added that out of respect for the party and its members, he would not challenge the expulsion in court, even though he believes the action lacked legitimacy. “I beg the party to allow me also go in peace,” he pleaded.</p>
