<p>The Kano State Government has issued a formal caution against the creation of parallel structures resembling the Kano Elders Advisory Council (KEAC), following a recent pronouncement by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) regarding its intention to establish a Kano State Elders Council.</p><div class="LEyyqPMp" style="clear:both;float:left;width:100%;margin:0 0 20px 0;"><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

<p>In a press statement signed by Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, the government acknowledged the ACF’s “noble intentions” in seeking to provide a unified platform for addressing socio-political and economic challenges. However, the statement emphasized that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had already announced the formation of the KEAC in January 2024, and that the council is currently undergoing institutional development for formal inauguration.</p>
<p>“The Kano Elders Advisory Council, as conceived by the Government, is composed of highly esteemed personalities,” Waiya stated, listing former Governors, Deputy Governors, Speakers of the State Assembly and House of Representatives, retired Supreme Court and Court of Appeal Justices, former Chief Judges, Grand Khadis, Secretaries to the State Government, Heads of Civil Service, respected Ulamas, business leaders, traditional rulers, and retired security chiefs among its members.</p>

<p>The statement urged all organizations and individuals, including the ACF, to align with the existing framework rather than creating duplicate bodies. “We firmly believe that by working together, we can strengthen the operations of the Council and ensure that its objectives are fully realized in the interest and common good of our people,” Waiya noted.</p>
