<p>The state Resident Electoral Commissioner Ambassador Abdu Zango made this known on Saturday while receiving a high powered committee set up by the Kano government under information commissioner comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya for public awareness on the ongoing voter registration in the state.</p>

<p>Ambassador Abdu Zango urged the Committee to embark on public sensitization on the importance of collecting the PVCs which are currently with the commission.</p>

<p>The resident Electoral Commissioner commended Kano government for setting up the committee which will help achieving success in the registration exercise.</p>

<p>He expressed confidence in the committee&#8217;s ability to deliver looking at the caliber of people as members and comrade Ibrahim Waiya as chairman.</p>

<p>He assured the committee of the commission&#8217;s support and assistance towards achieving their set objectives.</p>

<p>Earlier, the chairman of the committee and commissioner of information and internal affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya told the resident commissioner that, they are at the INEC headquarters to inform the REC about the committee and their mandate by as directed by governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.</p>

<p>He said, the committee which comprises representation from all sections of the society including opposition parties, is aimed at mobilizing citizens to participate in the registration exercise and obtain their PVCs.</p>

<p>He called on the commission to consider providing more polling units in the state to address congestion on election days.</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p>He urged the commission to assist the committee in the discharge of their assignment.</p>
<p> ;</p>
<p>Waiya reiterated government commitment for enabling the environment for the success of the voter registration exercise.</p>
