<p>The Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta (ABCOAD), Kano State, has added another feather to its cap with the official approval to operate as a Skill Training Center (STC) by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).</p>
<p>The approval, which followed a successful verification visit by the Board, empowers the institution to train young Nigerians in ten vital skill areas, namely:</p>
<p>1. Social Media Communications<br />
2. Networking and System Security Installation<br />
3. Livestock Farming (Poultry)<br />
4. Livestock Farming (Animal Husbandry)<br />
5. Livestock Farming (Fisheries and Aquaculture)<br />
6. Crop Production<br />
7. Agricultural Implement<br />
8. Mechanized Agriculture (Mechanics)<br />
9. Horticulture Production<br />

<p>Under the new framework, the Sectoral Awarding Body will be responsible for assessing trainees, while the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) will issue certificates upon recommendation.</p>

<p>Education stakeholders have described this development as a game-changer for the college and the state. By expanding into modern skill development alongside agriculture, ABCOAD is positioning itself not only as a center of learning but also as a hub for empowerment, innovation, and youth employability.</p>
<p>“This approval is a great milestone for us. It reflects the confidence of NBTE in our capacity to provide high-quality skill-based education that meets national and global needs,” Prof. Wailare said.</p>
<p>With this approval, the establishment of skill-oriented programmes at ABCOAD is expected to create opportunities for self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and job creation among Nigerian youths.</p>
<p>Prof. Wailare further expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering support and funding of various programmes that have uplifted the status of the college. He emphasized that the introduction of new initiatives and continuous infrastructural upgrades under the governor’s leadership have created an enabling environment for ABCOAD to thrive.</p>
<p>“His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has shown great commitment to the advancement of education in Kano State. This approval is a testimony that his investment in our college is yielding positive results not just for our students, but also for the entire state,” he added.</p>
<p>The College Management under the leadership of its Provost reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality training and producing skilled graduates who will contribute meaningfully to national development.</p>
