The head of Kano Bureau of Statistics maintained the five institutes will not only enable beneficiaries with valuable skills, boost local economies, but also contribute significantly to the overall socio-economic transformation of the state.

“All preparations for the takeoff of these institutes have been finalized. Feeding arrangements, training materials, and basic infrastructure have been provided to ensure smooth operations from day one.

“The Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that beneficiaries receive not only quality training but also the necessary support services to facilitate a successful learning experience.

“The reactivation effort is part of a broader plan to revitalize the 26 entrepreneurship and vocational institutes originally established during the administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“These institutes were designed to equip young people and women with practical and technical skills for self-reliance but were abandoned under the previous administration, leading to the decay of facilities and suspension of training programs.

“The five institutes slated for reopening include the Poultry Institute in Tukui, Makoda Local Government Area, which will admit 600 women who will be trained in poultry rearing.

“Others are the Reformatory Institute in Kiru, with 200 beneficiaries to be trained in sewing, welding, computer maintenance, and phone repairs; the Artisan Fisheries Institute in Magaga (Kabo LGA), with 200 participants to be trained in modern fishing techniques.

“The Irrigation Institute in Gwarzo, which will enroll 200 trainees for instruction in irrigation practices; and the Journalism Institute, which will also admit 200 participants for training in journalism”. Dr. Isa explained.
