<p>Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to press freedom, constructive engagement with the media, and the strengthening of democratic values in the state.</p>
<p>Speaking through his Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor made the remarks while receiving the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano Correspondents’ Chapel, during a courtesy visit to the Government House on Tuesday.</p><div class="oDMftxyF" style="clear:both;float:left;width:100%;margin:0 0 20px 0;"><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

<p>Led by its new Chairman, Murtala Adewale of The Guardian Newspapers, the chapel’s executives were warmly received by the DG, who congratulated them on their emergence and lauded the peaceful conduct of the recent election.</p>

<p>Sanusi Bature noted that the media remains a critical pillar in nation-building and democratic consolidation, stressing that the Yusuf-led administration places high value on the contribution of journalists in promoting transparency, accountability, and responsible governance.</p>
<p>“We sincerely appreciate the role of the Correspondents’ Chapel in bridging the communication gap between the government and the people. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is media-friendly and will continue to welcome constructive criticism that promotes good governance and public accountability,” Bature said.</p>

<p>He emphasized the need for mutual trust and professionalism in media-government relations and assured the chapel of the administration’s readiness to deepen engagement and provide unhindered access to information for all accredited journalists operating in Kano.</p>
<p>In his remarks, the new Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Murtala Adewale, commended the state government for its continued partnership with the media and pledged the commitment of the new leadership to uphold journalistic ethics and objectivity in reportage.</p>
<p>He called for stronger collaboration between the government and the media to facilitate the timely flow of information and ensure accurate coverage of state policies, programmes, and activities.</p>
<p>The visit also provided a platform for an interactive dialogue on strengthening government-media relations, enhancing media capacity, and ensuring improved access to credible and official information.</p>
