With the theme “Poetry in a Time of Crisis,” this year’s festival brings together poets, writers, scholars, activists, thinkers, and creative voices from across Nigeria and beyond to explore how poetry can serve as a tool for resistance, healing, advocacy, and enlightenment in times of personal and collective crisis rocking local, national and global challenges.

Founded in 2023 as Northern Nigeria’s first dedicated poetry festival, KAPFEST has fast become a literary and cultural landmark by creating space for critical conversation, artistic innovation, and creative solidarity. From performances and panel discussions to workshops and exhibitions, the festival offers a dynamic platform for both established and emerging voices.

“At a time when the region and the world at large are grappling with complex crises—social, political, economic—this year’s festival urges us to consider poetry not just as an art form, but as a language of survival and resistance,” said Salim Yunusa, co-curator of the festival.
