<p>Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of two Nigerian citizens, identified as indigenes of Kano State, who were murdered in Agan settlement, Makurdi Local Government Area, while passing through Benue.</p><div class="2w5COcby" style="clear:both;float:left;width:100%;margin:0 0 20px 0;"><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

<p>In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia described the killings as barbaric, inhuman, and completely unacceptable, pledging that the perpetrators would be brought to justice without delay.</p>
<p>According to the statement, the Governor immediately directed the Commissioner of Police and other relevant security agencies to swing into action. Acting swiftly on the Governor’s order, five suspects connected to the killings were apprehended in Makurdi by the Benue State Police Command.</p>
<p>Governor Alia expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, saying the victims were innocent travellers who fell prey to criminal elements. He emphasized that such acts were alien to the peaceful and hospitable culture of the Benue people.</p>

<p>“Benue people are known for their hospitality and peaceful disposition. We cannot allow some criminal elements to tarnish our image and create a contrary narrative. These criminals must be fished out immediately and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the Governor declared.</p>

<p>In a show of solidarity and compassion, Governor Alia extended his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, over the regrettable loss of two of his citizens. The statement noted that both Governors spoke earlier in the day to discuss the incident and strengthen inter-state collaboration on justice and security.</p>
<p>Governor Alia further appealed for calm and assured the people of Kano State that all measures are being taken to ensure justice is served and the culprits are prosecuted according to the law.</p>
<p>This development has reignited conversations around the safety of travellers and the need for enhanced security mechanisms across Nigeria’s transit routes, especially in regions affected by rising criminal activities.</p>
