<p>Reports indicate that the announcement was made in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The Governor congratulated the people of the state—particularly the Muslim community—on the commencement of the Hijrah year and called for reflection on its deeper meaning.</p>
<p>The Governor has again approved that Thursday, the first day of Muharram 1447, be observed as a statewide holiday in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar,” the statement read.</p>

<p>Governor AbdulRazaq urged Muslims to reflect on the lessons of Hijrah, describing it as a symbol of personal and collective sacrifice for noble causes, and a call to abandon all that contradicts peace, justice, and harmony.</p>

<p>“Hijrah teaches personal and collective sacrifice for good causes and abandonment of everything that is antithetical to peace, harmony, and social justice,” the governor added.</p>
<p>He prayed that the new year would bring peace, prosperity, security, and spiritual renewal to all families in Kwara State.</p>
