<p>The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made the pledge on Tuesday at a two-day sensitization workshop for Juma&#8217;at Mosque Imams, organized by the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry for Religious Affairs and the Kano State Council of Imams.</p>
<p>The Commissioner explained that the present administration, under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, considers Islamic teachers and Imams as critical stakeholders in society. He emphasized the government&#8217;s respect for them and promised to strengthen the relationship further.</p>
<p>Comrade Ibrahim Waiya stated that the messages conveyed by Imams in their sermons are powerful and can easily influence society, urging them to always use the right statements.</p>

<p>The workshop, themed *&#8221;Building a Better Future Together: Understanding and Supporting Government Policies for Societal Development,&#8221;* aims to equip clerics with knowledge about government policies.</p>
<p>The Commissioner also urged the Imams to provide the government with advice that would help in developing the state, calling on them to utilize the information gathered at the event in their subsequent sermons.</p>
<p>In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, urged the Imams to educate their followers on the importance of a peaceful society.</p>
<p>He stated that it is not right for Imams and clerics to prioritize opposing one another. Instead, he encouraged them to teach their followers their religion and convey the truth to those in authority.</p>
<p>Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Council of Friday Mosque Chief Imams, Sheikh Muhammad Nasir Adam, noted that it is against their tradition to offer advice to the governor or emir during sermons, as such matters are addressed privately.</p>
<p>Many Islamic clerics and Imams of Friday Mosques are attending the sensitization workshop, which will conclude on Wednesday.</p>
