<p>This was revealed by Halliru Ahmad Sawaba, Special Adviser to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Wildlife Conservation, during an assessment visit to the reserve.</p>
<p>During the visit, Sawaba highlighted the dire state of the staff quarters in both the southern and northern sectors of the reserve. &#8220;The staff quarters of the southern sector are dilapidated, and the houses in the northern sector at Nataala are not habitable,&#8221; he stated. He added that accommodations in various sectors, including the Gomo sector, would be repaired.</p>
<p>Sawaba also pointed out a significant encroachment issue in a disputed area of the reserve, allegedly involving a member of the Bauchi assembly.</p>

<p>He emphasized the urgent need for additional manpower, surveillance gadgets, computers, cameras, and trackers to ensure the effective management of the reserve. &#8220;We have reiterated the state of emergency. People should stop the indiscriminate felling of trees and encroachment of restricted areas,&#8221; he warned.</p>

<p>Isham Sani Aliyu, Deputy Director of Wildlife Management at Falgore Game Reserve, expressed optimism about the government&#8217;s commitment to fulfilling its promises. &#8220;We have been here for the past five days, and it is a great visit. It shows there is commitment in fulfilling promises made by the government,&#8221; he said. Aliyu stressed the importance of the forest for the survival of major dams in Kano and called for the implementation of conservation policies.</p>
<p>&#8220;The forest is 1,000 square kilometers, and we are understaffed. We need more staff, adequate motorcycles for patrol, and general rehabilitation of the camp. The Kano State Government should boost the forest, provide more training, and ensure synergy among stakeholders,&#8221; Aliyu added.</p>
<p>The visit to the Falgore Game Reserve underscores the urgent need for action to address the challenges facing the reserve and ensure the preservation of its wildlife and natural resources. The government has been urged to take immediate measures to stop illegal activities and provide the necessary support to enhance the conservation efforts in the reserve.</p>
