Kano Government Vows to Enforce Emergency Order on Tree Felling in Falgore Game Reserve

Hon. Ahmad Halliru Sawaba, the Special Advisor on Wildlife Conservation to the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf , has reiterated that the government will ensure the full implementation of the emergency order declared on the constant felling of trees in the Falgore Game Reserve.

Hon. Ahmad Halliru Sawaba made this resolution known during an official visit to the Falgore Game Reserve as part of an assessment of the compliance with the order given by the State government to stop the indiscriminate felling of trees in the reserve.

He lamented that such acts not only change the character of the place but also hinder the progress of the area. He added that the government would not sit idly by and watch the place deteriorate.

He also mentioned that the government is fully aware of the dangers caused by the indiscriminate felling of trees, saying that the situation is becoming alarming and poses a threat to the state’s farming activities.

The Special Advisor on Wildlife Conservation also said the government is aware of the security situation in the game reserve and will take all necessary measures to address it.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revamping the Falgore Game Reserve to international standards for proper usage and appealed to the community in the area to cooperate with the government to achieve good results.

The person in charge of the Falgore Game Reserve, Malam Hashim Aliyu, stressed the need for the authorities to urgently come to the aid of the people of the area by providing basic amenities to the youths and other residents to curtail social issues.

He also emphasized the need for the government to safeguard the security of the place by considering their proposal on the revitalization of the reserve.

He commended the government’s efforts for its zeal to upgrade the game reserve and assured their support and cooperation for the effective utilization of the area.
