<p>Birnin Kudu Old Boys Association (BIKOBA) has kicked against the idea of upgrading the school to a higher institution of learning, citing examples of other long-established schools such as King’s College, Barewa College, Rumfa College, and Queen’s College, among others.</p>
<p>BIKOBA National President Alhaji Jafar Usman Muhammed at the association’s 2024 annual general meeting in Kano noted that BIKOBA has made a great impact in the college, by providing boreholes, teaching and learning materials.</p>
<p>He also urged Jigawa state government to address the deteriorating condition of student hostels and staff houses at the college, with the goal of rehabilitating them effectively. ” We are made to be aware that Government of Jigawa State is aware of this capital intensive projects and will be tackled as soon as possible”</p>

<p>The National President lauded the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority for bringing water to the college from a public water source, towards addressing the water scarcity that has plagued the college for years.</p>
<p>He said the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority action was sequence to the request during a courtesy visit to the Authority.</p>

<p>The President also said the effort was not enough to address water needs of the teeming population of about 2000 students.</p>
<p>He stressed the need to rehabilitate the existing solar powered mechanised borehole in the college, noting that the Association has reached out to the Chairman of BIKOBA Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.</p>
<p>He expressed his confidence that Dr. Ganduje will provide a lasting solution to water scarcity in the college.</p>
<p>Alhaji Jafar Usman pointed out that, “this year’s AGM marks the end of 3 year term in office, the year set aside for reelection of current National Executives of another 3 year last and final term in accordance with the BIKOBA Constitution as amended or elect new officers in case of existing vacant post, in case of death, ill-health or resignation.”.</p>
<p>Also in his speech the Former National President of BIKOBA, Colonel Umar Malami, (Retired) said, the essence of the AGM was to enhance unity and brotherhood</p>
<p>The highlight of the event was the launch of a book titled “Kwalejin Birnin-Kudu, Tsohuwar Zuma dake ake Magani”, authored by Mallam Zubairu Suleiman, a member of BIKOBA Class 86. The book provided a historical perspective on the college, reminding members of the Association of its rich heritage.</p>
