Residents of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory have criticized Wike over allegations of “grabbing lands belonging to the poor to give to his wealthy associates” during a protest in Abuja, with thousands calling for the Minister’s removal from office.
Today, Friday, residents of the Federal Capital Territory staged a protest to express their discontent with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over allegations of land grabbing allegedly taken from the poor and given to his affluent associates.
The protesters have demanded that Wike be removed from his position, saying that the land seizures violate citizens’ rights and pose a threat to the welfare of the disadvantaged in Abuja.
The demonstrators voiced concerns over the misuse of office to favor a select few wealthy individuals, to the detriment of the general public, warning that such practices will not lead to any positive outcome. They emphasized that the government must listen to the people’s grievances to protect citizens’ rights and ensure justice in safeguarding national resources.
The protesters called on the president and parliament to take action against the alleged abuse of power and ensure that government operations are conducted with integrity and fairness, without favoritism toward any group.
