The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has issued a statement disclaiming a video circulating online that shows a person pouring a dark liquid, claimed to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), purportedly bought from an NNPC Retail outlet at Keffi Flyover. The company has categorically denied the allegations made in the video.
According to a press release signed by Chief Corporate Communications Officer Olufemi O. Soneye, NNPC Ltd conducted spot checks at all its outlets and found the claims to be false. “The product was not, and could not have been bought from any NNPC Retail outlet as the company does not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans as displayed in the video,” the statement read.
The company emphasized that NNPC Retail Ltd adheres to rigorous standards and quality control measures at every stage of its operations to ensure that only high-quality, safe, and reliable petroleum products are available at its stations nationwide. “NNPC Retail Ltd does not deal in adulterated products,” Soneye stated.
NNPC Ltd urged the public to disregard the claims made in the video and to be cautious of selfish and unpatriotic elements spreading such narratives, as they do not have the country’s best interests at heart. “Members of the public should discountenance the spurious claims made in the video,” the statement continued.
