The committee of elders and supporters of Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki, the NNPP candidate for the chairmanship of Kumbotso Local Government Area, held a press conference today, October 28, 2024, to inform the public and the Kano State government about their stand on his victory in the recent local government elections held on October 26, 2024.
The conference called on Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to comply with the order of the Kano State High Court No. 4, which confirmed Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki as the authentic candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kumbotso Local Government Area. Hon. Jabiru Abdullahi Zawachiki, Deputy Director General of the Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki Campaign Committee, urged the Kano State government to respect the court’s decision and swear in Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki as the chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area.
He emphasized that Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki is the legitimate candidate who contested the election on October 26, 2024, and that they have no intention of appealing the court’s decision. Adamu Garba Bechi, one of the campaign directors for Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki, stated that the call for Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki’s inauguration is a collective demand from the people of Kumbotso Local Government Area.
According to Al-Manasik Reporters, on October 25, 2024, the Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Usman Mallam Na’abba, confirmed Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki as the authentic candidate of the NNPP for the chairmanship of Kumbotso Local Government Area. This followed a lawsuit filed by Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki challenging the party’s leadership in Kano State after the party replaced his name with another person as the legitimate candidate. The court’s decision upheld Hon. Ali Musa Danmaliki’s candidacy, dismissing the party’s attempt to replace him with Abdullahi Ghali Shitu.
