The former Executive Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Alhaji Lawal Yusuf Saulawa, has passed on. In a statement sent to the Nigerian Tracker by a close associate and veteran journalist, it reads:
“I regret to announce the death of Alhaji Lawal Yusuf Saulawa Katsina today at his residence in Badikko, Kaduna. Before his death, he served as a BBC correspondent in the 1970s, Commissioner of Information in old Kaduna State in the 1980s, and the pioneer Commissioner of Information in Katsina. He also served as Director of Programs at VON, Executive Director of FRCN, and after his retirement, as General Manager of Nagarta Radio Kaduna. He is survived by his wives, children, grandchildren, and relatives. May his gentle soul rest in Jannatul Firdausi.”
The funeral prayer (Salat al-Janazah) is scheduled at 1:00 PM after Zuhur prayers at his residence on Sha’iskawa Road, Badikko, Kaduna.
