The Kano State House of Assembly was thrown into chaos when Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore addressed former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the acting national chairman of the APC.

The speaker’s reference to Ganduje as acting chairman during a condolence message to his wife, Professor Hafsat Ganduje, over her mother’s passing sparked a heated debate.

Minority Leader Labaran Abdul Madari and some APC lawmakers took issue with the designation, arguing that Ganduje remains the substantive chairman and should not be referred to as acting.

The assembly subsequently adjourned until Tuesday.

This session marked the resumption of the Kano State House of Assembly after a 48-day recess, which followed the passage of a bill abolishing the five emirates in Kano State.

The delay in reconvening the assembly was attributed to security concerns arising from the emirates’ abolition.
