Plateau State, Governor Barr Caleb Mutfwang has condemned the attack on some taskforce enforcing and implementing the Executive Order 003 recently signed by the present administration in the state to sanitize Jos and Bukuru metropolis from unwanted road side structures.

The said Executive Order prohibits unlawful building of houses, construction of shanties and irresponsible parking of heavy duty vehicles within Jos and specific locations.

The sad incident occurred Monday in Bukuru Market, headquarters of Jos South local government area, where three persons reportedly killed, following attack on the taskforce, with a personnel injured with several vehicles set ablaze.

A press statement obtained Tuesday by the governor’s spokes person Gyang Bere, commiserated with the taskforce, urging citizens to be law abiding.

The statement reads in parts:

“Governor Mutfwang expressed deep regret over the shameful actions of these miscreants, who not only targeted the Task Force but also endangered the lives of traders.”

“He emphasized that the market was designated by the government to accommodate lawful business activities with an appeal to street vendors to relocate accordingly.”

“The Governor lamented the reckless behavior of the attackers, who wielded dangerous weapons to inflict harm and loot shops, resulting in the destruction of vehicles owned by innocent traders. Tragically, one of the suspects fatally shot his accomplice during the chaos.” It stressed.

It again warned that “Religious and community leaders in the affected area, to guide their followers against unlawful conducts and implement measures to thwart criminal elements who may exploit the situation to cause disorder.”
