Kano State Governor, Governor Abba Inaugurates 9 High Court Judges, 4 Khadis of Shari’a Court of Appeal Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated nine High Court Judges, 3 Khadis of Shari’a Court of Appeal following recommendations from the National Judicial Council (NJC), and ratification by Kano State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued by his Spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa identified those appointed as High Court Judges are; Justice Fatima Adamu, Justice Musa Ahmad, Justice Hauwa Lawan, Justice Farida Rabi’u Dan Baffa, Justice Musa Dahuru Muhammad and Justice Halima Aliyu Nasir.
Others are; Justice Aisha Mahmud, Justice Adam Abdullahi, and Justice Hanif Sunusi Yusuf.
While those appointed as Khadis of Shari’a Court of Appeal are; Khadi Muhammad Adam Kademi, Khadi Salisu Muhammad Isah, Khadi Isah Idris Said, and Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani respectively.
Addressing the High Court Judges and Khadis of the Shari’a Court of Appeal at the oath-taking ceremony that was held at Africa House, Government House, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said that their appointments was done with umost conviction that they are qualified in all respects to occupy such exalted positions.
” Your appointments to the exalted positions is a testament to your exceptional legal acumen, commitment to justice and your unwavering dedication to uphold the rule of law” said Governor Abba Kabir.
He reminded the new Judges and Khadis that” the responsibility you carry is immense, and the impact of your judgement stretch far and wide. It is a responsibility that demand not only legal expertise but also profound understanding, sympathy, and a comittment to preserving the fundamental principles upon which our legal system is built ”
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf maintained that since inception, his administration has acceded to most requests from the Judiciary that has to do with his administration’s commitment to the separation of powers and independence of the Judiciary.
He urged them to approach their new roles with humility, empathy and commitment to service expressing optimism in their abilities to rise to the occassion, to seek wisdom, and guidance in the laws that have been laid before them and to make decisions that will stand the test of time.
The oath-taking was witnessed by the State Chief Judge, Justice Dije Aboki, Grand Khadi, Khadi Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai, Judges, Khadis and crop of legal luminaries from many walks of life within and outside the State.
