The Kano State and Local Governments joint Committee to enhance revenue generation has been inaugurated by the state Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge.

In his inaugural speech, the commissioner revealed that the executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf gave the approval for the inauguration of the committee in order to boost and harmonize revenue generation in the state.

Fagge maintained that the members constituted the joint committee were carefully selected based on their track records of honesty, integrity, and experiences in terms of discharging official duties.

The commissioner charged the committee members to ensure the timely presentation of the committee’s quarterly progress report available to his office for performance assessments and challenges for the way forward.

In his acceptance remarks, the Executive Chairman, State Internal Revenue Services (KIRS), Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, appealed to the relevant MDAs to give maximum support and cooperation to achieve desired goals.

Dambo, who is the leader of the committee, also noted that many states in the federation are ahead of Kano state in revenue generation.

The chairman maintained that the present administration under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is committed to seeing the state revenue generation improve and is always ready to give all necessary support and encouragement to achieve the desired objective.

Members that constituted the committee include representatives from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, and Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

Others are Kano State Urban Development Agency (KNUDA) and Revenue Mobilization Allocation Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) respectively.
