Five Kano Emirs

Former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alleges that his successor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, split the Kano Emirates with bad intentions.

The former Governor made this statement during an interview, and the audio clip was obtained by NIGERIAN TRACKER.

Senator Kwankwaso, who anointed his deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as his successor in the 2015 elections, developed a frosty relationship since the year 2016.

On May 8, 2019, the former Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, split Kano Emirates into five: Kano, Bichi, Karaye, Rano, and Gaya, with the new Emirates designated as first-class.

On March 9, 2020, Governor Ganduje deposed Emir Muhammad Sanusi II for alleged insubordination and banished him to Awe in Nassarawa state before he took the Government to court, where he was released.

Now, with the Supreme Court victory, some people have ignited calls for the reinstatement of Sanusi II as Emir.

During the interview, Kwankwaso, who is the benefactor and political godfather of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, said they are yet to discuss the issue of the five Emirates created by Ganduje. When the need arises, they will sit down and iron out the loopholes that greeted the splitting of the Emirates.

Kwankwaso, alleged to be controlling the Government through the backdoor, said he knows that a time will come when they will discuss the issue of the Emirates, whether to remain as one or stay as they are, or even be destroyed.
