The President of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, has vehemently condemned the horrific and genocidal attacks on over 20 villages in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State. The assailants, described as wicked and criminal militias, targeted innocent Christians preparing to celebrate Christmas, turning their joy into pain and sorrow.

Expressing deep sorrow, Rev Stephen Baba Panya offered prayers for the affected families and called for God’s comfort, healing, and restoration. He appealed to government agencies and NGOs to provide relief materials for the affected communities and urged heightened security measures to prevent further attacks. The attacks, occurring on Christmas Eve, raise questions about intelligence lapses and the delayed response from security agencies.

While commending the swift response of the Plateau State Governor, Rev Panya posed critical questions about the unprovoked, simultaneous, and well-coordinated nature of the attacks. He stressed the need for accountability and decisive action against the perpetrators to restore public confidence in the government’s ability to address insecurity on the Plateau and across the country.

The ECWA president called on the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, to halt the ongoing menace against churches and innocent Nigerians. Emphasizing the need for resettlement and justice, he urged Christians to remain calm and prayerful, trusting in God’s deliverance. As the nation looks towards 2024, Rev Panya hopes for greater love, peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
