In a press release addressed to all media organizations, the Northern Youth Assembly (Majalisar Matasan Arewa) expressed deep sorrow and condemnation for the recent killings in Kaduna by the Nigerian Army. The assembly, representing 19 Northern states chapters and FCT, mourned the innocent victims and demanded immediate actions and deserving compensation in accordance with Islamic injunctions.

The assembly firmly rejected the term “mistake” used by the military to describe the incident, emphasizing that such actions from a professional body like the Nigerian army are unforgivable. They called for a swift and thorough probe into the matter, urging appropriate sanctions against those responsible for the erroneous attacks on the innocent civilian community.

Expressing concern over the recurrence of such incidents, the assembly highlighted the need for credible intelligence, due diligence, surveillance, and adherence to rules of engagement within the military. They demanded full compensation for the victims, insisting that it should align with the teachings of Islam, considering that the affected individuals were Muslims.

The assembly commended Vice President Kashim Shettima, 14th Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i, and the Nigerian Senate for their condolence visit to the affected village and gestures towards the affected families. In conclusion, the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Adikwu Omale Joshua, urged the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, to fulfill the promise of a full-scale investigation and ensure that those responsible face legal consequences for their actions.
