Deputy Senate President Appoints Former Kano AG as Legislative Aide

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has appointed Umar Yakubu Danhassan as his senior legislative aide.

Umar Yakubu Danhassan, popularly known as Dan Aguro Motar Salama, served as Kano State Accountant General from 1999 to 2002. He resigned from the People’s Democratic Party and joined the PSP to challenge his boss and former Governor of Kano State, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The letter of Danhassan’s appointment, sighted by NIGERIAN TRACKER, took effect from June 2023.

Dr. Danhassan, a grassroots politician, received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano (BUK) at the beginning of this century. Earlier, he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and a Master of Banking and Finance from BUK in 1993 and 1998, respectively. Dr. Danhassan is also a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, FCNA, among other professional bodies.
