Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has plans to incorporate Turkey into its list of pilgrimage for the upcoming year.
Rev. Yakubu Pam, the Executive Secretary, revealed this development during the third Annual General Staff Retreat held in Jos, Plateau State.
He highlighted that a team from the Commission had already visited Turkey to explore Christian holy sites in the Middle East nation..
According to him, despite the challenges, the Commission under his leadership was able to successfully execute six pilgrimages within three years of being in the saddle.
“However, it was at the peak of the pandemic that the Commission was able to discover Jordan as a new pilgrimage destination, which later culminated in the actualisation of our maiden pilgrimage to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2021,” he said.
He commended the sacrificial efforts of the entire NCPC staff over the years, adding that their commitment to work and selfless service to the Commission were uncommon, while professional conduct during pilgrimage operations was worthy of emulation.
The retreat, themed “Leadership Transformation for Strategic Productivity,” gathered NCPC staff from headquarters and zonal offices.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, re-presented by the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, emphasized on the importance of open-mindedness and learning from each other.
He highlighted the significance of the retreat in addressing challenges and collectively advancing the cause of Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria.
Governor Muftwang commended Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam, the Chief Facilitator of the retreat, for his unwavering dedication to staff development, adding that his administration attaches great importance to the spiritual lives of citizens.
This year’s retreat theme is particularly apt,” said Governor Mutfwang. “It is only through transformational leadership that we can create positive change and achieve our goals.
” I urge all the staff of the NCPC to take full advantage of this retreat and return to their respective roles with renewed enthusiasm, ready to make a lasting impact on the success of Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria.”He said.
Notable speakers at the retreat included Professor Danny Mc Cain, who encouraged participants to implement acquired knowledge and become agents of transformation in their respective roles.
