In a strongly-worded letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, the President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Council (AYCC), Zaid Ayuba Alhaji, expressed deep concern and condemnation over the recent tragedy in Tudun Biri, Igabi L.G.A of Kaduna State.

The incident involved the killing of hundreds of worshippers celebrating the Maulud of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) in an aerial bombardment, believed to be by the Nigerian Air Force.

The letter highlighted the recurring issue of civilian casualties in aerial bombardments across the North, citing previous incidents in 2020, April 2021, and July 2022. AYCC questioned the lack of proper intelligence and strategic analysis in such operations, raising concerns about the accountability and responsibility of those in charge.

AYCC demanded an immediate investigation, disciplinary action, compensation, and an authoritative apology in response to the tragic incident. The letter emphasized the public anger and frustration, expressing doubts about the capabilities of key officials in safeguarding lives.

President Alhaji underscored the importance of this matter to the Northern people, stating that while they wait for addresses from other government officials, they feel compelled to express their concerns directly to President Tinubu, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The AYCC letter concluded with gratitude for the President’s attention to the matter and a reiterated commitment to the progress and prosperity of Nigeria, particularly the Northern states.
