The Kano State government will review requests from lecturers at state tertiary institutions for potential inclusion in its foreign scholarship program.
Professor Auwalu Halliru Arzai, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Higher Education, made this announcement during his interaction with the management, staff, and students of the School of Management Studies on Thursday.
Professor Arzai emphasized the government’s commitment to investing in the education sector, recognizing education as an indispensable catalyst for the development of any society.
He also recalled the efforts made by the previous administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in sponsoring young graduates to pursue higher degrees, which led to fruitful outcomes. Many of the beneficiaries are now leading in various spheres of human endeavor.
Professor Arzai highlighted the School of Management Studies’ excellence as a training ground for middle-class professionals in finance management and business fields. He advised the school to explore additional sources of revenue generation for sustainability.
Earlier, Hajiya Binta Abubakar Farouk, the Director of the School of Management Studies, described the visit as timely and the first of its kind in the school’s history. She commended the incumbent administration for the ongoing renovation of the Cooperative Department, which is now 95% complete.
The Director appealed to the government to complete the ongoing construction of a new theater that was abandoned several years ago and to consider landscaping and interlocking floors in the main areas of the school.
