World teachers day: AHIP advocates for more welfare package for teachers.

The adolescent health information project (AHIP), has called on the Nigerian government, to map out policies and other modalities for improved welfare package, for teachers to move education forward.

This was contained in a statement on the world teacher’s day celebration, signed by the executive director AHIP, Hajiya Mairo Bello in Kano.

According to her,teaching provides the unique opportunity to make a transformative and lasting impact on the lives of others, contributing to shaping sustainable futures and offering personal fulfilment.

The executive director explained that, the united nations educational scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO), had set aside October 5th as World Teachers’ Day, which is an occasion to honour teachers worldwide ,and recognize their pivotal role in transforming education, and shaping the future of students.

 

Hajiya Mairo pointed out that, research indicates that, the world Teachers’ Day, observed annually on October 5th, is a global celebration dedicated to honoring the invaluable contributions of teachers to society. Saying that, the day serves as an opportunity to recognize the vital role teachers play in shaping the future and to address the challenges they face.

 

She pointed out that according to UNESCO, learning being an essential part of life and a child’s development, teachers play a crucial role in society. They are responsible for teaching the leaders and innovators of tomorrow, and World Teachers’ Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the ways that teachers have responded to unforeseeable circumstances over the past.

 

The executive director stressed that, UNESCO pointed out that, the 2023 world teachers day themed: “The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage”, aims to put the importance of stopping the decline in the number of teachers,and then starting to increase that number at the top of the global agenda.

 

“Through various activities, they will advocate for a dignified and valued teaching profession, analyze their challenges, and showcase inspiring practices to attract, retain and motivate teachers and educators. It will also examine the ways in which education systems, societies, communities, and families recognize and the value girl’s education”

 

Hajiya Mairo Bello explained that, AHIP would not relent in it’s efforts of advocating for educational development at all levels, such as the I-AGE program among others.
