The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has announced the establishment of a new Center for Reading and Research Development at the university. This initiative aims to encourage both students and teachers to engage in extensive studies and deepen research efforts to enhance knowledge development and dissemination.

Professor Abbas made this announcement during the launch of the Center for Reading and Research Development, which took place at Bayero University Kano today. He stressed the importance of instilling a reading habit in children and teaching them the value of community-building through education.

Additionally, he mentioned that the university would provide training for teachers to equip them with the necessary skills to teach students how to conduct research effectively.

Professor Talatu Musa Garba, the Director of the Nigerian Center for Reading Research and Development, stated that the center holds an annual conference, focusing on revitalizing the research environment for students and educating teachers on effective teaching methods.

Furthermore, Professor Talatu Musa Garba emphasized the center’s dedication to supporting teachers in reviving the reading culture, promoting literacy, and enhancing academic achievements, particularly at the postgraduate level.

The institution was established to address the lack of reading skills among both teachers and students, aiming to elevate the quality of education. The university intends to motivate educators and students to prioritize research and in-depth studies as essential components of their academic pursuits
