OGUN STATE, Nigeria – Dignitaries from across Nigeria gathered today to pay their last respects to Mrs. Genevieve Duke, the mother of former Cross River State Governor, H.E Donald Duke.

The solemn ceremony took place at the picturesque Iju Hills in Ogun State, where family, friends, and political associates bid farewell to the matriarch.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and prominent politician Rabiu Kwankwaso a former Governor of Kano state were among the notable figures in attendance. The event saw an outpouring of condolences and support for the Duke family as they mourned the loss of their beloved mother.

H.E Donald Duke, who served as the Governor of Cross River State between 1999-2007 , expressed his gratitude for the presence of friends and well-wishers during this difficult time. In a heartfelt statement, he thanked everyone for their support and fondly remembered his mother’s unwavering love and guidance.

“Today, I joined my brother, H.E Donald Duke, the former governor of Cross River State, in laying to rest his beloved mother, Mrs. Genevieve Duke, at Iju Hills, Ogun State. May God grant the Duke family the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” said former President Olusegun Obasanjo, reflecting on the solemnity of the occasion
