In a bid to solidify the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) power in Kano, the new APC National Chairman and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, recently held a night meeting with his closest loyalists and influential figures within the Kano APC.
A source with intimate knowledge of the situation informed NIGERIAN TRACKER that the former Governor, now the National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party, was present at the residence of his former Deputy, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who is also the APC Gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 General Election.
The source revealed that the meeting took place from 2 AM to 4 AM on Saturday night at the Abuja residence of the APC Gubernatorial candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna. The former Governor convened the meeting to discuss crucial matters affecting the fortunes of their party in Kano.
Those who participated in the closed-door meeting with Ganduje at his former Deputy’s Abuja residence included Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna (the Gubernatorial candidate), his longstanding political ally Nasiru Aliko Koki, the APC returning officer for the 2023 general election, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, and Lawal Daura, a relative of Buhari’s nephew Mamman Daura. However, the state APC chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, was absent, dealing with urgent matters. Nevertheless, one of the party’s principal officers, Bashir Mai Sango, was present.
The source suggested that the meeting could be related to their ongoing petition at the Kano Election Petition Tribunal, where the APC has filed a lawsuit against Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his party, the New Nigeria People’s Party, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
