Justice Dije Abdu Aboki has been sworn in as the first female Chief Judge of Kano State, following her appointment by Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf. The inauguration ceremony, in accordance with Section 271 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, took place at Africa House in the Government House.

Governor Abba Kabir praised Justice Dije’s distinguished career as a professional judicial officer committed to upholding justice and fairness. He emphasized the weight of responsibility on her shoulders and urged her to address issues like perceived miscarriages of justice, alleged judicial corruption, and cases influenced by money, power, or personal favor.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the judiciary, promising to complete abandoned projects, construct new court complexes, and prioritize the welfare of judicial officers.

Justice Dije Abdu Aboki expressed gratitude to the Governor and the National Judicial Council (NJC) for recommending her appointment, vowing to justify the trust placed in her.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and representatives from various judicial bodies. Justice Dije highlighted the harmonious relationship between the government’s three arms and expressed optimism for further strengthening it under the state governor’s leadership.

The appointment of Justice Dije Abdu Aboki marks a significant milestone in Kano State’s history, advancing gender representation in the judiciary and contributing to the pursuit of enduring peace, economic prosperity, and sustainable development.
