Kano State government has committed to revitalizing the deteriorating infrastructure and restoring the former glory of the local government councils in the state.

During a meeting with the 44 local government council chairmen in his office on Tuesday, the Deputy Governor and Commissioner of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, made this pledge.

Highlighting the significance of local government as the closest authority to the people, Comrade Gwarzo emphasized the need to prioritize its development to positively impact the lives of rural residents.

The Commissioner called upon the local government chairmen to be proactive in delivering relief and essential services, despite the challenges, in order to alleviate the high cost of living experienced by the population.

In addition, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo directed the councils to address the issue of mentally unstable individuals wandering naked within their respective local government areas.

Earlier, Alhaji Yusuf Datti Hussain, the permanent secretary of the Ministry, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusif for appointing highly experienced and seasoned local government administrators to oversee the ministry’s operations.
