Court sacks newly elected factional Yoruba Community Kano,YCK  exco, reinstates Oba Yoruba’s Caretaker Committee

Kano state High court No 4 sitting at State road complex has declared the election of Yoruba Community Kano executive members led by comrade Sam Alade  as null .

The court presided over by justice Usman  Mallam Na;Abba, in an order of the court dated 26tth day of June 2023,  held that  the election that produced  the Alade led exco have been set aside.

The court in suit  No . K/584/2022  filed by one Seyi Samuel Olorunishola against  one Abdulateef Faisu,  Sam Alade and others as respondents   said “ that all actions carried out  by the respondents or any persons on the basis of the judgment of 30/05/2023, on account  certain people emerged  as executives  of Yoruba Community  Kano, YCK  and any other action carried out  within 30/05/2023 are hereby set aside.

The court passed the verdict, after hearing  Mrs M. Aminu  Esq, counsel for the Applicant and H A. Dandago, for the judgment creditor and Prof Y B. Hassan, for some of the respondents.

The court further held “that the Caretaker Committee, which was appointed by the Oba Yoruba Kano, sequel to the order of this court  and reads 08/03/2023 should continue acting  and should conduct fresh elections to appoint new executives  for Yoruba community Kano within six months .

It would be recalled that the Yoruba community  in Kano is engulfed in a leadership tussle over, who are the bonafide leaders of the umbrella group of the  Yoruba’s in the ancient city.
